Working our way up, the third game on my list is the one that started it all.
SILENT HILL
A survival-horror classic. There's no other way to put it. This was the game that used to be considered Resident Evil's main competition back in the day. There's not much I can say about the plot without delving into spoilers, but you play as Harry Mason in search of his daughter Cheryl, after a car accident in the mysterious town of Silent Hill.
The original game is the scariest game in the series for some, and fans continue to hold it in high regard. Monsters are disturbingly depicted, and levels are easy to get lost in, which sometimes adds to the insanity. While it may be for the original PlayStation, Silent Hill 1 still holds up incredibly well for a 15 year-old game. The CG cinematics are some of the best on the PlayStation, and this is the game where Akira Yamaoka made his debut creating haunting soundtracks.
